Abstract
Cucumber was cultivated in bag medium filled with different proportion of coir pith, pea tand vermiculite. The treatments were T0,CK(peat/coir pith/vermiculite was 4/0/2),T1(peat/coir pith/vermiculite was 3/1/2),T2(peat/coir pith/vermiculite was 2/2/2),T3(peat/coir pith/vermiculite was 1/3/2) and T4(peat/coir pith/vermiculite was 0/4/2),in other words,to substitute peat with coir pith by degrees. The result indicated that medium with proper proportion of coir pith was good for the growth of cucumber. It could increase the yield and improve the quality of the cucumber.T1 was the best of all treatments and its yield was 22.72% higher than CK,and its early yield was 40.21% higher than CK.T3 and were not obviously compaired with CK.
