Abstract

[Objective] The practical basis of the Acacia seedling cultured in container was provided through the experiment in the sweet acacia( Acacia bealbata ) sown in the container with different substrates. [Method] The sweet acacia seeds were sown in seven types of substrate including coconut coir powder, coconut velvet, perlite, ceramic powder, vermiculite, peat and crop straw powder and there were 5 repetitions for each treatment in the experiment. [Results] The wholly weight, the weight of main root, the weight of lateral root, the diameter of stem and the height of seedling of sweet acacia was significantly different among the different treatments of substrates. The maximum value of the wholly weight and the weight of lateral root appeared in the treatment of coconut velvet as culturing substrates, with 4.959 and 0.630 g; the maximum of the weight of main root, the diameter of stem and the height of seedling,in coconut coir powder, with 1.625 g,2.53 mm and 19.56 cm,respectively. Of different media between There was significant difference in the number of compound leaf, the number of leaflet in compound leaf among the treatments. The largest number of compound leaf appeared in the substrate of peat, with 7.4 leaves, and then,in the substrate of coconut coir powder, with 7.2 leaves. The largest number of leaflet in compound leaf appeared in the substrate of coconut coir powder, with 50.4 leaflets, and then,in the substrate of peat, with 44.0 leaflets. [Conclusion] The substrate of coconut coir powder was the preferred one for the sweet acacia seedling culturing in container and then coconut velvet.
