Abstract
Objective To investigate the influence of time to start enteral nutrition on the curative effect in patients with severe acute pancreatitis. Methods Seventy-eight patients with severe acute pancreatitis were randomly divided into two groups, very early enteral nutrition group( starting enteral nutrition when fasting for 24 hours) and early enteral nutrition group( starting enteral nutrition when fasting for 72 hours). The results of culture of intestinal flora, rate of dysbacteria, incidence of multiple organ dysfunctions, incidence of infection and mortality between the two groups were compared. Results The differences of the inoculation test results of intestinal flora between the two groups was statistical significance( P 0. 05). The rate of dysbacteria and incidence of infection were both lower in the very early enteral nutrition group as compared to the early enteral nutrition group( P 0. 05). The differences in the incidence of multiple organ dysfunction and mortality had no statistical significances( P 0. 05). Conclusion An early start of enteral nutrition has a good positive effect in reducing the incidence of infection in the treatment of severe acute pancreatitis.
