Abstract

This paper analyses the formation and root of scientific idea of positivism, and its core thesis.Based on this,it reveals the thoughts and characters of positive philosophy of social science. This paper points out that, positivism has played a very important part in the forming and developing of social science, but its empiricist, naturalistic and objectivist core claims, have resulted in many problems, which can not adapt to contemporary theories and practices in social science. So post-positivism and alternative projects for positivism, are theoretical foundations for re-understanding social science.
