Abstract
Along with the variations by a big margin of coming water and sediment and intensification of human activities in the Yellow River basin, the physical conditions of the Yellow River are increasingly worse. The paper puts forward cognition on sediment discharge regulation system of the Yellow River and considers that a normal channel with about 4000 m3/s bankfull discharge could be created through the regulation of the Xiaolangdi Reservoir and 5~8 years effort of the channel on the lower Yellow River under the present actual conditions of sediment discharge of the river, through the studies on aspects of connotation of the river’s health, theory and technical support for keeping the healthy life of the river, mathematical model of sediment water resources optimized configuration of the basin, sediment reduction function on the lower river channel of joint operation of large-scale key water control works and creating a normal channel on the lower Yellow River.
