Abstract

Objective To evaluate the drug susceptibility of Mycobacterium tuberculosis by BACTEC MGIT-960 cultural and drug susceptibility testing system and investigate the drug resistance rate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis from July 2001 to June 2006. Methods Fast cultivation of M.tuberculosis and susceptibility tests were done by BACTEC MGIT-960 cultural and drug susceptibility testing system. Results Of all 1 102 isolates, the total drug resistance rate for 4 anti-TB drugs(SM,RFP,EMB,INH) was 56.1%, poly-resistance rate was 8.2% and multi-drug resistance(MDR) rate was 40.2%. From Jul 2001 to Jun 2006,the total resistance rate of the anti-TB drugs and MDR rate were 89.7%,74.4%;51.2%,37.2%;58.1%,45.3%;53.2%,35.7%;56.3%,39.4%;49.8%,31.8% respectively. Conclusion Of all the M.tuberculosis isolates, both the total drug resistance rate and MDR are high, indicating that the management of the patients with tuberculosis should be enhanced so as to reduce the produce and spread of the M.tuberculosis with drug resistance.
