Abstract
Objective To analyze the current situation of drug resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Xinjiang and to provide information for diagnosis, treatment and policy on tuberculosis(TB) control. Methods Mycobacterium tuberculosis susceptibility tests were done by BACTEC MGIT-960 cultural and drug susceptibility testing system. Results The rates of total drug resistance, drug resistance to SM and RFP were 78.20%,44.14% and 44.68% respectively in 1998,and decreased to 59.62%,27.64% and 21.05%,while the rate of drug resistance to EMB was 14.23% in 1998,and increased to 21.68% in 2008.The rate of drug resistance to INH did not vary on the whole. The rate of drug resistance to one was 35.86% in 1998,and decreased to 31.44% in 2008,while the rate of drug resistance to four was 0.54% in 1998,and increased to 2.08% in 2008.Conclusions The drug resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis was in a trend of decline in Xinjiang from 1998 to 2008,although it was more than the mean level of China. The increase of multi-drug resistance of TB calls for special attention.
