Abstract
At the intermediate level of American higher education, American liberal arts colleges, which provide various forms for the public, focus on four-year college programs with bachelor's degrees and play an indispensable role in American higher education. A study of their special functions will be of much significance to the reform and development of the ordinary four-year-program colleges in China.
