Liberal arts colleges have been an important part of higher education system in the United States.American liberal arts colleges focus on undergraduate education,believe in the ideal of liberal arts education,insist upon small size,and well-preserve residential and tutorial system.The unique characteristics of American liberal arts colleges,quite different from the other institutions,make them competitive and attractive to many students.
