Cultural Exchanges between China and Japan in the Seventeenth Century

In the seventeenth century,both China and Japan adopted a seclusionist foreign policy.Though there were no formal diplomatic relations between the two countries,extensive and in-depth cultural exchanges were carried on between the two countries through books and records and the Chinese expatriates in Japan.Such exchanges had important influence on the social and economic development of the two countries,particularly that of Japan.
