Abstract
In order to know the diapause mechanism of Papilio xuthus L.deeply,the gravimetric method was used for examining the water content of non-diapause pupae,diapause pupae and eclosion-adult from diapause pupae,respectively.Results showed that the water content of non-diapause pupae was between 77.2193%~81.3552%,that of diapause pupae was between 67.1469% and 75.0716%,and that of eclosion-adult from diapause pupae was 66.3596%.The water content of non-diapause was the highest,that of diapause pupae was the second and that of eclosion-adult from diapause pupae was the lowest.The water content of diapause pupae was relatively stable,except declining more in the last ten days of November.And the changing of water content of diapause pupae had relations with the different stage of the diapause pupae development.The different water content and changing of non-diapause pupae,diapuse pupae and eclosion-adult from diapause pupae showed different metabolism character.
