Abstract
The toughening modification of epoxy resin (EP) is reviewed. The toughening method and the study of the mechanism of the toughening of EP in recent years are introduced, putting stress on the toughening modifications of epoxy resin by rubber elastomer, thermoplastic resin, thermotropic liquid crystalline polymers, interpenetrating polymer networks, nano-meter particles and core-shell elastic particles.
