Survey and Conservation of Amphibian Resources in Maojie Nature Reserve of Guangxi Province

The amphibian resources in Maojie Nature Reserve of Guangxi were investigated from March to July in 2003.The results showed that 16 species of amphibians,belonging to 12 genera,6 families and 2 orders,were recorded in the reserve.According to the zoogeographic division,this area belongs to Min-Guang coastal subregion,South China region,Oriental Realm.The fauna is mainly composed of species both in Central and South China.The ecological categories of 16 amphibians were mainly running-water type and terrestrial and quiet-water type.Compared to Dawangling Nature Reserve and Cenwanglaoshan Nature Reserve in the west of Guangxi,the similarity coefficient of amphibian communities in Maojie Nature Reserve is higher.On the contrary,it has a smallest similarity coefficient than Guilin Lijiang scenic spots in the north of Guangxi and Guabang mountain in the South of Guangxi.Based on the conditions of the amphibian resources,some protective suggestions are provided in the paper.
