A New Stage of Translation Studies:Mulfidisciplinary Reconstruction Beyond Deconstruction

From the 1990s till today,translation scholars have been thinking about how to further their studies by going beyond the limitations of structuralistic and deconstructive paradigms and to start a new stage of multidisciplinary research on translation. This paper,by an analysis of the features of Douglas Robinson's theoretical construction,expounds principal characteristics of this new stage of translation studies,which,as shown by the pluralistic epistemology and methodology of theoretical construction,the awareness of the transdisciplinary methodology,practice-based orientation,and humanistic concern for the translator as reflected in theory.It also points out some problems to be seriously considered in this new stage of translation studies,such as the relationship between translation studies and philosophy,more in-depth research on the translator,methodology of transdisciplinary research,and multidimensional connections between translation theory and practice.With the detailed explication,this paper aims to offer a preliminary analysis of translation studies in this new stage and arouse further discussions about this issue.
