Abstract
A new photometric method has been developed for the determination of Ti with 5′ Nitrosalicylfluorone(5′ NSF). In the presence of cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTMAB),Ti (Ⅳ) reacts rapidly with 5′ NSF to form a ternary micelle complex in 0.012~0.020mol/L hydrochloric acid medium. The apparent molar absorptivity of the complex is 1.36×10 5L·mol -1 cm -1 at 599 nm ,and the composition ratio of Ti(Ⅳ): 5′ NSF is 1:4. Beer′s Law is obeyed for Titanium(Ⅳ) in the range of 0~8μg/25ml. The proposed method is sensitive and selective, which has been applied to determine the trace amounts of titanium in alloy steels with satisfactory results.
