Abstract
Spectrophotometric determination of Ti(Ⅳ) with the new chromogenic reagent DCIPF is recommended.Ti(Ⅴ) forms a stable red ternary micelle complex 〔Ti(Ⅳ)∶DCIPF=1∶4〕 with DCIPF in the presence of surfactant Tween-40 at the concentration range of 0.02~0.11 M H2SO4.The maximum absorption of the complex is 542 nm,the apparent molar absorptivity is 2.10×105 L·mol-1·cm-1.Beer′s law is obeyed in the concentration range of 0~14μg Ti(Ⅳ) per 25ml.The proposed method has good sensitivity and good selectivity. It has been applied to the determination of trace amounts of Ti(Ⅳ) in alloy steels in the presence of Masking reagent with satisfactory results.
