Abstract

AIM: To study the impact of Captopril on vascular endothelium function in patients with essential boundary hypertension. METHODS: We examined the endothelium-dependent vasodilation of brachial arteries in 23 patients and 20 normal subjects by high-frequence Ultrasound. Results: Though there were not significantly differences in vasodilation of brachial arteries during given Nitroglycerin between two groups(%: 26.02± 5.59 vs 28.02± 6.04,P 0.05), the change of dimater of brachial arteries during reactive hyperaemia decreased remarkably in patients in contrast to the normal. The change became normal after patients having taken Captopril for three months (%: 22.50± 5.45 vs 6.34± 2.43,P 0.05). CONCLUSION: There was some decrease of vascular endothelium function in patients with essential boundary hypertension. But the injured endothelium function could recover after given Captopril.
