Abstract
For cutting flowers of rose (Rosa hybrida Hort.), 50nL·L~(-1) 1-MCP treatment markedly delayed the shriveling of petals and withering of flowers. The treated flowers stayed turgid and the vase-holding life was three days longer compared with untreated flowers. Further studies showed that 1-MCP treatment could increase the fresh weight of cut flowers, relative permeability of petal and leaf plasma membrane, and the content of soluble protein in petal.
