Abstract
Speed exceeding is a major factor influencing traffic safetyIncreased speeding will likely result in augmenting the number of traffic accidents as well as the severity of the injuries resulting from high-speed accidentsHeightened speeds also have detrimental effects on the environment, such as air pollution and high level of noiseThis paper makes an investigation into speed choice on the road where speed is restrictedThe results show that drivers' speed judgements are based on current speed limit and 61% of drivers exceed the speed limitDriving patterns are influenced by the behavior of other driversA new idea is brought forward to effectively control driving speed
