Abstract

Natural clinoptilolite was modified by ammonium nitrate and the effects of zeolite dosage, reaction temperature and reaction time on Cu2+ adsorption by zeolite were studied, and the underlying mechanism was discussed.Zeolite, after modification, significantly increased its adsorption efficiency of copper ions, the best dosage being 100 g/L and the maximum adsorption capacity being 4 170.9 mg/kg.The equilibrium data of modified zeolite well conformed to the Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm equations, and the reaction of modified zeolite adsorption of copper ions was a spontaneous chemical adsorption process and followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic expressions. The Elovich model fitted results showed that adsorption process was nearly a heterogeneous diffusion process. The particle diffusion model fitted results showed that particle diffusion in the adsorption process was not the only speed-control stage.
