Secondary Surgical Correction of Unilateral Cleft Lip Nasal Deformities: Triangular cartilage frame procedure

Objective To explore a new procedure for correction of unilateral cleft lip nssal deformity. Methods A modified marginal incision was made to expose and resect the cleft side alar cartilage, then an appropriately triangular framemodel of pieces of rib was inserted into the space left by the resection and the cartilages were fixed to the surrounding tissue. Results The nasal tip, columella and alar cartilage deformities were well corrected in fifteen subjects followed up for 6 moths. Conclusion With new method, most cases achieved satisfactory results in short time.
