Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical effect of eye acupuncture and combination of acupuncture and drugs in the treatment of facial spasm. Methods Sixty seven patients with facial spasm were randomly divided into the control group of 30 patients and the treatment group of 37 patients. The control group was given the combination treatment of acupuncture and drugs, while the treatment group was given eye acupuncture treatment based on the control group. Clinical effects of the two groups were compared. Results Among 37 patients of the treatment group, 23 cases were cured, accounted for 62.16%; 11 cases were effective, accounted for 29.73%; 3 cases with no response, accounted for 8.11%, with the total effective rate of 91.89%. Among 30 patients of the control group, 10 cases were cured, accounted for 33.33%; 12 cases were effective, accounted for 40.00%; 8 cases with no response, accounted for 26.67%, with the total effective rate of 73.33%. There were significant differences of total effective rate between the two groups (P0.05). Conclusion Eye acupuncture and combination of acupuncture and drugs is significantly effective on facial spasm, thereby worthy of clinical application.
