Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of Losartan and Simvastatin on patients suffering from chronic congestive heart failure (CHF). Methods 132 CHF patients were randomly devided into routine control group, Losartan joint Simvastatin group and Simvastatin group.180 days later, the changes of left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVED), left ventricular end contract surface (LVES), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), and cardiac function (NYHA class) were observed before and after therapy. At the same time the concentration of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) were determined with chemiluminescent method . Results There was a significant statistical differences in NYHA, LVED, LVES, LVEF, E/A and BNP between Losartan joint Simvastatin group and routine control group (P0.01), and not between Losartan joint Simvastatin group and Simvastatin group. Conclusion Losartan joint Simvastatin is more effective than Simvastatin in treating patients with CHF.
