Abstract

Three Gorges reservoir is an important strategic freshwater resources reservoir and an ecological sensitive area in China.The water resources protection of the reservoir area has significance for ensuring the water safety of reservoir area and promoting the ecological environment protection and the harmonious development of regional economy and society.We describe the importance and necessity of water resources protection planning in Three Gorges reservoir area through analysis on the main problems of water resources protection in the reservoir area after the commissioning of TGP,and also discuss the guidelines,principles and thoughts for the planning of the water resources protection of Three Gorges reservoir area.
