Clincal estimation of inhalation threapy and peak expiratory flow rate in children asthma

Abstract

Objective To observe the curative effect of inhalation therapy to children asthma. Methods Seventy-two patients with asthma were treated with inhalation therapy by persistent beclomethasone and intermittent salbutamol. Lung function was monitored with simple expiratory peak-velocimeter for 6 to 12 months. Results Among 72 cases, 50 cases showed signifcant effective; 21 cases, effectiveland 1 case failed to respond. The toatl effctive rate was 98. 61 %. The emergency call rate dropped from baseline of 95. 83% to 22. 22%. The hospitolization rate also dropped from baseline of 45. 83% to 1. 39%. Peak expiratory flow rate(PEFR) after treatment for 12 months was higher than that after treatment for 6 months and before treament. No obvious side-effect was observed during treatment. Conclusion The inhalution therapy is an efficient, simple way in children asthma without side-effect. The simple expiratory peak-velocimeter may be useful in monitoring children asthma.
