Abstract
Objective:To observe the use of propofol administered as a component of a Target Controlled Infusion (TCI) in exodontia. Methods:Sixty outpatients of exodontia were randomly divided into three groups: TCI group, manual controlled infusion(MCI) group and control group. The mean dosage of propofol used in the first two groups, the time of loss and recovery consciousness were recorded. Blood pressure, heart rate, depth of controlled sedation during operation were recorded at the same time. Results: The time of losing consciousness in TCI group was markedly shorter than that in MCI group (P0.05); The dosage of propofol used in TCI group was larger than that in MCI group after the patients lost consciousness. During the overall operation the mean dosage of propofol in TCI group is slightly smaller than that in MCI group. The time of recovering the consciousness is distinctly shorter than that in MCI group (P0.05). There is no notable difference between these two groups in MAP, HR, SpO 2. The hemodynamics was kept steadily, but fluctuate greatly in Control group, and have greatly statistical difference. Conclusion: The effect of local anesthesia combined with propofol was significantly better than the routine local anesthesia alone; Compared with MCI, target controlled infusion of propofol induced anesthesia quickly, awaked early and maintained anesthesia more steadily.
