Abstract
Objective To test the effects of zhining capsules on serum lipids in rats fed with high fat diet. Methods The rats were assigned into four groups,the high-fat diet control group,and low,middle and high dose experimental groups.The rats in the three different dose groups were administered with wolfberry capsules prepared with plant oil through gastric feeding at doses of 0.0835,0.1670,and 0.5010g/kg.bw respectively;and the control group received only distilled water.Thirty days thereafter,serum total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) were assessed and compared. Results Compared with the control group,the 0.1670 and 0.5010g/kg.bw dose groups had significantly reduced serum TC(P0.05),while the 0.0835 and 0.1670g/kg .bw dose groups had significantly decreased serum TG(P0.05),and the 0.1670 and 0.5010 g/kg.bw dose groups had increased serum HDL-C level more than 4mg/dl. Conclusion Zhining capsules are effective to improve the altered plasma lipid profile.
