On the study of urban geology in China

Since 21 st century,the protection and rational utilization for the environment and resources have become important strategic issues in China.As a basic task,the investigation and research of urban geology should focus on the environmental geological problems including urban construction and development,and there are different emphasized points in accordance with different development stages and national demands.At present,facing the impetuous urbanization in China,the major task for the urban geology is to focus on controlling the damages by the geotechnical engineering and geological disasters under the condition of urban environment.So,in order to prevent disaster and promote sustainable development,urban environmental geological safety,especially urban civil engineering safety is a key task for the urban geology.
