Abstract

Urbanization is a common trend for all the countries in their development,and is a mark of human civilization and progress.This paper presents a brief introduction of the his- torical development of urban environmental geology in China and other countries,with em- phasis on the present situation of urban geological survey and its development trend.It also points out the problems of urban environmental geology in China,such as land subsidence, ground fissures,karst collapses,water resource shortage,urban waste disposal and special soil environmental issues.
