Abstract
Caragana microphylla is one of the main tree species for plantation in northern droughty areas of China.Stand growth of Caragana microphylla in Ulanqab city were studied.Result shows that Caragana microphylla shrub land show varying degrees of decline;death of individual plant biomass is more serious with the increase of afforestation age;individual plant biomass increase with the increase of the afforestation age;individual plant grows slowly 10 years later;the mean biomass increase first and then show a decreasing trend;soil water content decrease with the increase of afforestation age.Therefore,the weak Caragana microphylla shrub should be human intervened to promote the rapid recovery of stand.
