Abstract
The protective effect of total flavonoids of purple sweet potato leaves(FPSPL)on carbon tetrachloride-induced chronic liver injury in mice was studied. The chronic liver injury model was induced by administration of 7% carbon tetrachloride and mice were treated of FPSPL at 50,100 or 200mg/kg to examine the changes of liver index(LI),alanine aminotrasferase(ALT),aspartate aminotrasferase(AST),albumin(ALB),total protein(TP)in serum, superoxide dismutase(SOD)and malondialdehyde(MDA)in liver homogenate. The results showed that FPSPL significantly decreased LI,the activity of serum ALT and AST,the level of MDA in liver homogenate. It also increased the concentration of serum ALB and TP,the activity of SOD in liver homogenate.FPSPL had protective effect on mice with chronic liver injury induced by carbon tetrachloride.
