Abstract

Strategic alliance of universities is an important way to achieve their resource-sharing and advantage-complementing goals. From different perspectives, the alliance can be divided into different types, which perform different functions of the alliance.Considering Chinese universities' lack of experience in forming alliance and the problems with the alliance such as compulsory alliance and weak enforcement of contracts, the present article suggests that alliance should be formed on a voluntary basis and in a gradually deepening manner, and mechanisms should be established to supervise the enforcement of contracts,to mete out rewards and punishments and to evaluate the choice of alliance members.
