Objective To analyze the etiology of severe acute pancreatitis( SAP). Methods The clinical data of105 patients with SAP in Zhangzhou Hospital Affiliated to Fujian Medical University from April 2008 to October 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. Results In the 103 cases,36 cases( 34. 3%) was biliary SAP,34 cases( 32. 4%) was diopathic SAP,28 cases( 26. 7%) was hyperlipemic SAP,4 cases( 3. 8%) was alcoholic SAP,3 cases( 2. 9%) was other causes. The proportion of biliary SAP in the elderly group was higher than that in the non- elderly group, the difference was statistically significant( P 0. 01). The proportion of hyperlipemic SAP in the non- elderly group was higher than that in the elderly group, the difference was statistically significant( P 0. 01). Conclusion Biliary SAP is the most common type, which proportion is higher in elderly patients, and higher in female than in male. The proportion hyperlipemic SAP is higher in the young patients.
