Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the effectiveness of the continuous airway humidification with mucosolvan so as to ensure the patency of respiratory tract and reduce the risk of secondary pulmonary infections in severe patients after tracheotomy.METHODS A total of 106cases of chest injury or cerebral hemorrhage patients undergoing the tracheotomy were enrolled in the study and randomly divided into two groups;the experimental group received continuous humidification with mucosolvan dissolved by 250 ml of 0.45% natrium chloride,while the control group received the continuous humidification with traditional humidified fluid(α-chymotrypsin,chymotrypsin,and gentamicin disso1ved by normal saline),then the effect of airway humidification and the incidence of secondary pulmonary infections were observed and compared between the two groups.RESULTS Totally 58cases in the experimental group were satisfied with the airway humidification,with the 51cases of sputum viscosityⅠ;totally 36cases in the control group were satisfied with the airway humidification,with 24cases of sputum viscosityⅠ; both the effect of airway humidification and the sputum viscosity were significantly better in the experimental group than in the control group(P0.01).The tracheotomy duration and the time of extubation were respectively(14.5±5.0)days and(15.9±3.2)days in the experimental group,which were respectively(18.7±8.2)days and(23.0±2.5)days in the control group,the differences between the two groups were significant(P0.01). The secondary pulmonary infections occurred in 6cases of the experimental group during the hospital stay,significantly less than 15cases of the control group(P0.01).CONCLUSION The continuous humidification with mucosolvan can achieve satisfactory effect of airway humidification and effectively prevent the secondary pulmonary infections.
