Evaluation of the Efficacy and Safety of Desloratadine in Treating Allergic Rhinitis

Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of desloratadine in treating allergic rhinitis. Methods:A randomized and double-blind clinical trail was conducted. Totally 57 patients with allergic rhinitis were randomly assigned into two groups. The study group of 30 patients took desloratadine tablet 5 mg, po, qd. The control group of 27 patients took loratadinum tablet 10 mg, po, qd. The period of treatment of both groups was 14d. Results:The effective rate of desloratadine was 96.7%, while it was 88.9% in the control group. There was no difference between two groups (P0.05). There was no severe side effect in the two groups. The adverse reaction rate was 16.7% in the study group and 11.1% in the control group. There was no significant difference between two groups(P0.05). Conclusion:Desloratadine in treating allergic rhinitis is effective and safe.
