Abstract

Land use and land cover changes have been hot spots in geography and ecology,in which land use spatial pattern is one of the core research objects.By taking Shantou city as an example, the land use spatial pattern is analysed from the view of landscape ecology.According to the different ecological effects of each type of land, the classification systems used in Shantou land renewal investigation in 2003 are adjusted, and the land is divided into 8 types such as plantation, woodland, garden plot, grass plot and so on.Under the support of GIS,the information about the number, area and perimeter of each patch is collected. The number, area and figure characteristics, and diversity, evenness, dominance, centrality and interregional significance of the landscape patches in higher spatial level scale are studied, and the landscape ecological characteristics of the land in Shantou's 6 districts and 1 county are summarized.two main conclusions are given: human disturbance and!spatial heterogeneity of land use.It is considered that different types of land should coexist harmoniously,so as to attain sustainable economic development of Shantou.
