Comprehensive evaluation analysis on Urban-rural overall development of Chongqing

Scientific and reasonable evaluation of a region's overall level of development between urban and rural areas is the premise and foundation for effectively implementing the overall development strategy. According to two aspects of the common development and gap between urban and rural areas,this paper selected 17 index to reflect urban and rural development condition of Chongqing as a whole. Based on the combination of TOPSIS method, principal component analysis method(the integrated use of subjective and objective weight methods), comprehensive evaluation of urban-rural development level in Chongqing was carried out. The results showed that scores of the process of urban-rural overall development increased continually in Chongqing and presented a good development momentum in 1997—2011, indicating that the gap between urban and rural areas narrowed.
