Abstract
Metaphor is an important concept in literature studies, and in syntax studies in general linguistics as well. From the perspective of semiotics, metaphor stems from the iconicity of linguistic signs. From the cognitive linguistics,it roots in the sequence of recognizing the world and the relevance theory when conducting languages. On cognitive account, metaphor arises out of the order of understanding of the world by human beings and the relevance in dealing with languages. It is necessary to explore metaphor from the perspectives of semiotics and cognitive linguistics in order to study metaphor profoundly.
