Abstract
This paper,through the exploration and analysis of the features of the narrative poems in The Book of Songs, comes up with a conception that The Book of Songs has exerted its influence upon the creative pattern that ancient Chinese poems highly valued lyricism and belittled narration.The features of the narrative poems in The Book of Songs are different from those of the early western narrative poems.One is the neglection of stories and the other is the easy transition to lyricism.This phenomenon is closely related to the naive knowledse of the function of poems that the early people had and at the same time represents the aesthetic taste and thinking habits of our nation.
