Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of adrenomedullin(AM)on myocardial remodeling after myocardial infarction in rats.Methods Left anterior descending coronary arteries were ligated to produce myocardial infarciton in rats,40 rats which survived after coronary arteries ligation were randomly diveded into 4 groups:myocardial infarction group,AM(0.05nmol·kg~(-1)·d~(-1))group,AM(0.1nmol·kg~(-1)·d~(-1))group and AM(1.0nmol·kg~(-1)·d~(-1));Sham-operate rats were selected as non-infarcted controls,subcutaneous injection of AM was given to the 4 groups everyday.4 weeks later,the parameters of heart weight index(HWI),left ventricular weight index(LVWI)and hydroproline concentration in left ventricular noninfarcted zone were measured.Results HWI,LVWI and hydroproline concentration increased significantly in myocardial infarction group as compared with those in sham-operated group(P0.01),and they decreased greatly in AM groups as compared with those in myocardial infarction group,and the decrease degrees were related to the dosage level of AM in different gropus.Conclusion AM can improve myocardial remodeling after myocardial infarction in rats.
