Abstract

An obvious dimensional and seasonal characteristics was found through analyzing 17 monitoring sites of Songhua River in terms of ammonia-N concentration in 2003-2010. Concentrations of ammonia-N in sections which flow through cities increase obviously, with household wastewater as the main contributor. The concentration of ammonia-N in the same section increases during dry period, and reach its peak value from February to March. The nonpoint sources in snow melt pe-riod also aggravate the pollution. Kendal test results indicated that the water quality in Songhua River has been improved un-der the policy of rehabilitation.
