Abstract
Objective To explore the effects of primary snoring(PS) and obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) on sleep efficiency(SE),sleep stage,respiratory events and growth development of children.Methods One hundred and twenty-two cases of snoring children who came to respiratory and otorhinolaryngology department of Yuying Children′s Hospital for treatment during Dec.2007 to Jul.2009,who had been confirmed by polysomnography monitoring were selected.The children were divided into PS group(n=58) and OSAHS group(n=64).The SE,sleep stage,respiratory events and growth development of patients in the 2 groups were analyzed.Results The SE in OSAHS group was lower than that in PS group(P0.01).Compared with PS group,the OSAHS group had higher percentage in Ⅰ phase;Ⅱ phase,and lower percentage in Ⅲ +Ⅳ phase,and rapid eye movement(REM) phase(Pa0.01).The total number of apnea in OSAHS group was higher than that in PS group(P0.01),and the OSAHS group had longer time apnea compared with PS group(P0.01).The total number of hypopnea and time of hypopnea in OSAHS group were higher than those in PS group(Pa0.01).There were significant difference in the longest hypopnea between 2 groups(P0.01),and there were significant difference in apnea hypnea in ex and oxygen desaturation index between the 2 groups(P0.01).There were no significance in height,weight,body mass index,neck circumference between the 2 groups(Pa0.05).In OSAHS group,the adenoid face incidence was significantly higher than that in PS group(P0.05).Conclusion The growth development,SE and sleep stage can be severely effected by OSAHS,the pediatrian should enhance the recognition of OSAHS for early intervention and treatment.
