Abstract
Effects of heat treatment on microstructures and mechanical properties of Ti6242S were studied. The results show that the primary α-phase decreases, strength increases and ductility decreases with the solution temperature increasing when the Ti6242S alloy is heat treated in the two phase region. With the increase of aging temperature, the amount of secondary α-phase increases, the strength increases up to the peak and then decreases, but the ductility has a little change. The optimum heat treatment process is 965 ℃×1 h(air cooling)+595 ℃×8 h(air cooling),and preferable mechanical properties can be obtained under this heat treatment.
