Abstract

Objective To observe corneal endothelium cells damage of capsulotomy using Nd:YAG laser. Methods The specular biomicroscopy of corneal endothelium was performed on 52 eyes with posterior capsular opacification before and after a week,a month and three months of capsulotomy using Nd:YAG laser. Results Postoperation a week,a month and three months the mean cell density is lower than preoperation, the percentage of endothelial cell loss was 2.78%,5.65% and 6.28%,there were all significant difference ( t=2.247 t=3.541 and t= 2.449 ,P0.05) .There was siginificant correlation between the pulse energy per single burst and endothelial cell loss( r=0.4191,P0.05 ),the total energy was no significant correlation( r=0.2214,P0.05). Conclusion Corneal endothelial cells can be damaged by Nd:YAG laser which is used in capsulotomy. It is the best management that using low pulse energy of Nd:YAG laser on capsulotomy.
