On the Status of People in Mencius' "Policy of Benevolence"

The Political ideal of Mencius is the Policy of Benevolence. In his opinion, people is the key and the judgment standard of the Policy of Benevolence, and this policy can be true only when people get five basic rights. Nowadays, we can call some of the rights Civil Rights. The idea of attach importance to people's rights and status has a lasting influence to China.
