Analysis on the Secular Appeal of Hakka People's Gods Worship——A study of gods worship activities at Mei County in east Guangdong

The inclement natural environment and the harsh social reality compel the Hakka ancestors to not only keep the legitimate belief of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism in Central Plains Earth,but also desire for the blessing of other numerous gods at the same time.This circumstance,on one hand,causes the complexity of gods worship in Hakka region;on the other hand,it gives the Hakka people's gods worship a feature of secularization and utilitarian in a high degree.By describing and analyzing the construction of gods worship system at Mei county in East Guangdong,the author discusses the Hakka People's expression of secular purpose under the background of pursuing sacred value,and their strategic operation of gods worship activities in the purpose of utilitarian,in the hope that it can arouse the readers' thorough thinking of Hakka people's spiritual features and the characteristic of traditional Hakka society.
