On Formation and Development of Hakka Dipamkara Buddha Belief

The Hakka people,who were mixed by the people moving from the Central China to Fujian,Guangdong and Jiangxi and the local people in these three areas,came into being in Song Dynasty and have now become a national branch of people in China.The Hakka people experienced many migrations and they are now widely populated both at home and abroad.In spite of going through all vicissitudes in life,they still hold fast the old civilization prevalent in the Central China and they integrated other colorful civilization elements into their own,forming the unique Hakka culture in the end.Folk belief,a relatively high level of the Hakka culture,is regarded by the Hakka people as the social ideological form.Dipamkara Buddha Belief is one representation in folk belief.Dipamakara Buddha Belief was formed by mutual influence between buddha worship in Song Dynasty and the strong spiritual requirements demanded by the Hakka people in Fujian.Ever since Ming Dynasty this Belief has been interacted with Hakka Clan and gradually become the spiritual link of clan integration,social education and emotion build-up.
