Abstract

Objective: To develop a rapid and reproducible method in strain identification for Trichophyton rubrum. Methods:Two novel tandem repeat subelements(TRSs),TRS-1 and TRS-2,located in the Trichophyton rubrum rDNA nontranscribed spacer(NTS) were amplified from 63 strains of Trichophyton rubrum. Results:Specific amplification of TRS-1(6 type) and TRS-2(2 type) produced strain-characteristic bandinding patterns. Conclusions:This new method of typing Trichophyton rubrum will provide a rapid ,stable molecular method about pathogenesis and epidemiology of this fungus.
