Methods 44 patients who met CCMD-3 criterion for depression episode were randomly assigned to citalopram group(n=21) and Fluoxetine group (n=23) for the treatment of 8 weeks . The clinical efficacy was evaluated by HAMD. The side effects were evaluated by TESS. Results There was no significant difference of the efficacy between two groups (P0.05).Citalopram showed rapider efficacy and less side effects than Fluoxetine (P0.05). Conclusions Citalopram is an effective and safe antidepressant of SSRIs.
