Diversity of Reptiles in Wuyishan National Nature Reserve of Jiangxi Province

The investigation for the reptilian diversity has been carried out in Jiangxi Wuyishan National Nature Reserve from 1980s.A total of 59 species were recorded,belonging to 41 genera,11 families,2 orders in this nature reserve,accounting for 71.08% of Jiangxi Province.As to the faunal distribution,86.44% belonged to Oriental Realm and 13.56% to widespread species.Among these 59 species,18 species are listed in the Red Data Book of Endangered Animals,17 species in the Species Red List,11 snakes belong to the endemic species of China and 14 species are venomous snakes.Two species of snake,Elaphe porphyracea and Pseudoxenodon karlschmidti are new records to Jiangxi.Finally,some suggestions in protecting reptiles are given in this paper.
